Where or where does the time go?

Hard to believe that over a year has gone by.
The latest quilt off the machine is Sandi's beautiful Christmas quilt. We decided on Holly and Poinsettia for the panto design, Hobbs 80/20 batting and Glide Vegas Gold. The Vegas Gold was a perfect choice for this quilt as it blended well and wasn't harsh on any of the fabrics.

Just So You Don't Think I've Been Slacking

As usual, I haven't kept up with my blog but just to let you know that I've been working:

This quilt was for a soldier that was wounded in Afghanistan.  He is a native of Rockford, Illinois. It was made by my customer Alice. I quilted stars in white SoFine thread.

Gena sent me this cute little sailboat to quilt. I used a panto called Thistle and a light variegated blue thread.

This next quilt was done by my former boss, Julia. It was a Christmas for her nephew and his wife. She did a beautiful job piecing it. I used Surf's Up and Lt. green Wonderfil thread.

I was commissioned to make this tee shirt quilt as a present for my customers grandson. The tee shirts belong to the boy and his deceased grandpa. It was an adventure as I'd never made one before. It ended up being a queen size. I used my go to panto - Surf's Up and a light grey thread. After seeing the finished quilt, Grandma couldn't decide if she wanted to give it away or keep it. In the end, one happy boy got the quilt.

This isn't the greatest picture of this beautiful quilt. It was pieced so perfectly by one of my customers. She wanted Surf's Up and a teal variegated King Tut thread.

Next is another nice one from Ruth. I love doing her quilts. She claims not to be very good, but she fibs. She likes doing scrap quilts and her color choices are always pretty.

.

Another cute baby quilt. I love the bright colors. Laura wanted a variegated thread in primary colors. The panto is Thistle.

This last one is my guilds' raffle quilt. It took me 150 hours to quilt it. Most of the time was spent doing all of the ditch work. It has pebbles and feathers as a filler in the applique blocks, ropes and feathers in the borders. The threads are SoFine and Bottom Line in black. While the quilting doesn't show in the pictures, you can see it on the quilt. The applique work is stunning. Hopefully, this quilt will raise a lot of money for the guild. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe I'll win it!!

Sorry this post was so long but since I'm so great at blogging, I figured I'd better show all now.

Thanks for looking!

Catching up Again!

I won't waste time apologizing for all the time between posts. Lets face it, I'm a bad blogger.
I will however get straight to sharing pictures of  some of the quilts that I've finished since my last post:

This first one is a quilt that I helped my friend piece for her daughter's wedding present. It's a photo quilt with pictures of both the bride and groom from childhood to adulthood.

It was custom quilted with lots of feathers.
Next is another custom quilt with lots of feathers. I'm on a feather kick.........
I used a ruler from Deloa Jones for the rope border, it's really slick.
The center star is surrounded by curved crosshatching and the same treatment is applied to the center of the star along with feathers in the points. I used a variegated thread in the colored parts and black for all the backgrounds with a solid red in the sashings. I really love how this one turned out. I wish I could have kept this one. I'll have to make one for myself (Who's dreaming now?)
Think I'll end now and save some for another time.
See I really have been busy.....honest, I have!

This one's for you friend.

My friend Abigail wanted me to post pictures of this quilt for her so here it is. This is a quilt that I recently did for one of the local quilt shops. I was so honored to be allowed to quilt it and when I brought it back I was doubly honored to have it placed in their front window.

This is the top before quilting.

When I brought it home, I couldn't for the life of me figure out how I was going to quilt it but with a little help from my friends and my computer it went quite well. I've been using Photoshop Elements and a Wacom Tablet to draw out designs for some of the quilts. I took an online class from Carla Barrett at Steponpins.com that was very good.
Here are close-ups of the quilting designs used on the quilt.
And the finished quilt.
(I'm sorry, I didn't get a good picture of the borders.)

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and please come again!

Two more for Ruth

I did two more of Ruth's beautiful quilts. The first is a Pinwheel with nine patches. She loves doing scrap quilts and her color choices are so wonderful. I used a panto called Swirls N Twirls.and white SoFine thread on the top and in the  bobbin.
I love the back, it's so soft and pretty!

I'm not sure of the pattern for this one. It's quilted with a panto called Feathered Plumes with Blue SoFine thread in top and in the bobbin.

Here's the back
Both quilt have Warm and Natural batting.
I know that there is a ton of space between the last two pictures but no matter what I do I can't get rid of it. I'm sorry. Blogger seems to have a mind of it's own.

Thank you so much for looking. Please come back again soon.

Catching up

It's been a while since my last post as usual so I'm going to play catch up.

Here is a quilt that I quilted as a raffle quilt for the Girl Scouts

The back is Girl Scout fabric.
I used a panto called Swirly Gig and a lime green thread. It turned out very nice, the pictures don't really do it justice.
I have more quilts to share but I'll save them for another day.

Thanks for looking!

Been Busy!

The first quilt is one that I quilted for Amanda, it's  her sister's Christmas present.I used a pantogram called Variegated Shells. It gives great texture to a quilt without being dense.

This next one is a Pinwheel Quilt done for Ruth. The pantogram for this one is Swirl N' Twirl. It is a great one to add movement to a Pinwheel.

Pam's took me 3 weeks to finish. I know I'm slow LOL! I did a lot of intense feathering on it. I'm not sure what the pattern is. It seems to be a variation on Drunkards Path. I had all of these wide open spaces that I just had to fill.

                                                            Love the back!

Georgia's quilt is a variation on a Log Cabin. Again I used Variegated Shells. This one has a Minke backer so I didn't want anything too dense. It is the first one that I've ever done with minke so I was a little apprehensive, but (call it beginners luck) I didn't have any problems with it.

                                                           The back is so soft

And last but not least is Joann's baby quilt. It's a cute panel with flying sheep. The pantogram (Double Plum) is one of my favorites. It looks great on baby quilts.

(I have to find a better place to take pictures)
