The journey to the birth of a block

I started working on the second block of my wool applique quilt. I thought I'd share some pictures of the process......

It all starts with the wool.
All the pieces are traced on to freezer paper and ironed on the wool.
So many pieces...........
Next, I stapled the pieces to the background. I learned that staples are so much earier to work with. Your thread doesn't get caught on the staples and they are very easy to remove.
A little more progress ............
We're all set to start stitching..........
I'll post more pictures when it's a finished block. Thanks for visiting.
Happy Quilting!

Just discovered your blog and became a follower as I will love seeing this quilt come alive. I too enjoy hummingbirds btw.

That block is going to be beautiful! I never would have thought of staples!

The staples are a clever idea and with the open weave of the wool cloth there would be no breakage in the fabric. Great block!

This is beautiful. I have wanted to work with wool, but I have to travel quite a distance to find any. Anxious to see the final outcome. Keep us posted. Chris

Lovely design! I can imagine it in regular quilting cotton as well as wool.
